Hi, I’m Natalie

I’m a queer artist living and working in Colne Valley, West Yorkshire. I typically use oil pastels or wax pastels to create illustrations of natural forms inspired by the landscapes surrounding me. I experiment with colour as a way of appreciating nature, whilst knowing that I can never fully replicate it’s beauty. I like the freedom of using any colour and expressing what I see through wild mark making.

Some notes play on their own and some don’t play at all. It’s shoved under the stairs and even though I bump my head each time I sit down to play, no other piano, in any other space will do. My piano feels like home.

To me, home is where my piano is. Wherever I go, I long to be home to sit and play. If I’m

When reading ‘The man who planted trees’ my main takeaway was the power of the individual. I felt inspired and empowered by the story which is why I wanted the Shepherd to be the centre of my piece. He is surrounded by the fruit of his labour and has finally found ‘peace in being’. If one man could achieve so much for nature, imagine what we could do if we all worked together.
